Where to watch and follow golf in the UK

Live coverage: Sky Sports

Sky Sports is, by a distance, the place to watch golf live in the UK. Through a run of deals extended and renewed across 2025 and 2026, Sky and its streaming service NOW hold exclusive UK and Ireland live rights right across the sport. That's all four men's majors and all five women's majors, including a multi-year extension with Augusta National that keeps Sky as the exclusive home of the Masters. The Ryder Cup and the Solheim Cup are both covered too, through to 2029, alongside the DP World Tour's full global schedule, also through to 2029, including every UK event on our events page. Sky's PGA Tour deal, extended to the end of 2029, takes in the FedExCup regular season, the Players Championship, the FedExCup Play-offs, the Presidents Cup (2026 and 2028), the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Champions. Rounding it out, the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour are described by Sky as exclusively live alongside the rest of its golf output.

If a tournament is being shown live on UK television at all, it's almost certainly on a Sky Sports channel.

Free coverage: the BBC

The BBC doesn't show live golf, but it holds free-to-air highlights and radio rights to a short list of the biggest events, confirmed through to 2027 or 2029 depending on the event.

The Open gets free daily highlights on BBC Two and iPlayer, and live ball-by-ball radio commentary on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds. Ofcom lists The Open as a protected "Group B" event and approved Sky's exclusive live rights precisely because the BBC's highlights and radio coverage count as adequate secondary access; that arrangement runs to 2027.

The Ryder Cup does better still: a nightly highlights programme, over 30 hours of radio coverage across 5 Live and 5 Live Sports Extra, and digital clips on the BBC Sport site and app, a deal running to 2029. The same 2029 agreement also covers free BBC highlights of three DP World Tour events, the Genesis Scottish Open, the BMW PGA Championship and the season-ending DP World Tour Championship. Nothing else on the DP World Tour or Ladies European Tour schedule currently carries free BBC highlights, so for anything beyond that short list, Sky is the only way to watch.

Official tour YouTube channels

Each of the main governing bodies and tours runs its own free YouTube channel, posting highlights, interviews and behind-the-scenes clips after play.

Past the official channels, a handful of UK-based creators run shows we checked are still active. We don't rank them; each line is just what the channel does.

Rick Shiels Golf is the biggest of the lot: equipment reviews, celebrity and pro challenge videos, and swing tuition, the most-watched golf channel on YouTube. Peter Finch Golf covers similar ground, tuition alongside course vlogs and guest content, often filmed with Rick Shiels. Mark Crossfield, a Devon-based PGA professional, was among the first pros to teach on YouTube and still posts coaching videos.

For listening rather than watching: The Chipping Forecast is a weekly podcast with broadcaster Andrew Cotter, Tour player Eddie Pepperell and BBC golf correspondent Iain Carter. The Rick Shiels Golf Show is a podcast companion to the YouTube channel, covering equipment and tour news. No Laying Up, a US show, has a large UK following for its take on the pro game and course reviews.
